I am selling a high quality replica of the Soviet Obr. 1938 “Panamka” or Panama hat. This pattern of hat was adopted shortly before World War II as a tropical item for issue in hot weather regions.

These hats were most famously worn by Red Army soldiers during the Battle of Khalkhin Gol in Mongolia against the Imperial Japanese in 1939, although they also show up in some photos during the joint Soviet-British Invasion of Iran in 1941 and the Battle of the Caucasus Mountains in 1942. An updated version of this hat was perhaps more famously worn by Red Army soldiers during the Soviet-Afghan War of the 1980s.

Correct tan cotton twill shell and red cotton lining with a blue twill tape sweatband and an integral chinstrap. Has a red felt star affixed to the front with a high quality large enameled cap star in the center of it. Marked a size 61 although I believe would also fit a size 59 or 60.
Asking $60 plus shipping.
